Apple has issued warnings to iPhone users in Armenia about state-sponsored espionage attacks, including the use of the notorious Pegasus spyware. Information security expert Samvel Martirosyan highlighted that these attacks have increased since the 2020 war with Azerbaijan. CyberHUB-AM co-founder Artur Papyan cautioned Android users that they may also be targeted, even without receiving a warning.
Once infected with Pegasus, hackers can access all information on a device. To stay safe, Apple users are advised to update their devices regularly and utilize Lockdown Mode if targeted. Martirosyan revealed that hundreds of individuals in Armenia have been targeted, including government officials, journalists, and opposition members.
The use of Pegasus is costly, with targeting one phone ranging from $20,000 to $60,000. These attacks have been ongoing for over two years, impacting a wide range of individuals. It is essential for users to stay vigilant and take necessary security measures to protect their devices.\
