There is a noticeable trend of improved performance for Republican candidate Donald Trump in US counties with nearly complete results compared to the 2020 election.
Source: Politico, as reported by European Pravda
Details: Among over 1,300 counties, where at least 95% of the votes have been counted according to the Associated Press estimates, Trump, as Politico’s analysis stated, has improved his results compared to 2020 in 92% of them. The average shift has moved slightly more than two points in Trump’s favour.
While most of these counties are not in swing states, Trump is still showing an advantage. These counties are primarily “traditionally Republican”, with only a few Democratic-leaning counties, where Harris is likely to have an edge.
However, a positive indicator for Harris is that in “blue wall” states, particularly Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, where nearly complete data (95%) has been reported, the average shift in favour of Trump is around one percent.
Yet, with a narrow margin between the candidates, this trend remains troubling for the Democratic Party.
Background: It has been confirmed that Trump is winning in the swing state of North Carolina, is close to victory in Georgia and leads in Iowa, where polls had suggested the potential for a surprising result.
