Israeli Air Strike Kills Three Journalists in Southern Lebanon
An Israeli air strike in southern Lebanon killed three journalists as they slept in their accommodation, with no warning issued prior to the attack. The strike targeted a compound in Hasbaiyya, where the journalists were staying, away from the conflict between the Israeli military and Hezbollah.
The victims were identified as two cameramen and a technician, including Ghassan Najjar and Mohamed Reda from Al Mayadeen, and Wissam Qassim from Al-Manar TV. Lebanon’s Information Minister called the attack a “war crime” and condemned the deliberate targeting of journalists.
Al Jazeera’s Imran Khan described the attack as a deliberate message to all journalists covering the area, aiming to silence their reporting on the conflict. This is not the first incident of journalists being targeted in the region, highlighting the dangers faced by media professionals.
Despite the risks, journalists continue to report on the conflict, emphasizing the importance of freedom of speech and the role of journalists in providing accurate information to the public.
