Argentina Takes Action Against Use of “Falklands” Instead of “Malvinas” in Official Document
Argentina’s Defense Ministry is set to dismiss the individual responsible for mistakenly using the term “Falklands” instead of “Malvinas” on the Argentina.gob.ar website.
A recent report on Foreign Minister Diana Mondino’s meeting with ICRC Deputy Vice President Gilles Carbonier mistakenly referred to the Islands as Falklands instead of Malvinas. Despite being corrected, the error led to tension between the two ministries involved.
The Foreign Ministry attributed the error to Defense and vowed to take strict action. The incident sparked controversy and resulted in disciplinary measures against the individual responsible for the mistake.
The Defense Ministry emphasized the importance of using the correct terminology to respect the sensitivity of the Argentine people regarding the Malvinas Islands.
