The Edo State Joint Transition Committee meeting hit a roadblock due to disagreements over essential documents. Comprising members from both the outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki and Governor-elect Monday Okpebholo administrations, the committee failed to proceed at Tuesday’s session.
During the previous meeting, the outgoing administration received accolades for maintaining clean financial records, promising to provide necessary records to the transition committee. However, only a few government committee staff attended the recent meeting, with APC members notably absent.
The APC transition committee demanded advance copies of documents, expressing dissatisfaction with the ones provided by the Obaseki team. Despite assertions by the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, stating that the committee should focus on transitioning rather than inquiries, the standoff continues.
With 23 areas of interest highlighted by the APC committee, the impasse underscores the challenges faced in the transitioning process in Edo State.
