Kwara State Governor approves new minimum wage of N70,000
The Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has given the green light to the new minimum wage of N70,000 recently announced by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The wage increase will be effective across the Kwara State public service starting from October 2024, along with necessary adjustments to salary structures.
The decision follows a successful meeting involving government representatives, the leadership of labour unions, and the private sector. Dr Hauwa Nuru, the Commissioner for Finance and co-chairperson of the minimum wage committee, praised the Governor for supporting the process and prioritizing workers’ welfare.
The Governor’s administration is committed to the well-being of the people of Kwara State and aims for sustainable development and economic stability. The new minimum wage also extends to employees in the 16 local government areas of the state, showcasing a dedication to fostering growth and prosperity for all residents.
