US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed new opportunities to free the remaining 101 hostages in Gaza following the IDF’s operation that killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. Both leaders agreed to work together towards achieving this goal, with Biden congratulating Netanyahu and the IDF on the successful operation.
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan expressed the US’s readiness to seize the opportunity and secure the release of the hostages swiftly. Mossad Chief David Barnea initiated plans to move forward strategically after Sinwar’s elimination.
Following Sinwar’s demise, the US engaged in talks with Israeli, Qatari, and Saudi Arabian officials to advance negotiations for a ceasefire and the release of the hostages. The administration sees a window of opportunity with Sinwar out of the picture and aims to push for tangible progress.
