Azerbaijan President Rejects Armenia’s Unrealistic Proposal for Peace Treaty
In a recent meeting, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan dismissed Armenia’s proposal to sign only the agreed provisions of a peace treaty, leaving the unresolved issues for later stages. The President received the credentials of the new Ambassador of Belgium to Azerbaijan, highlighting the importance of all provisions in the treaty being of equal value and interdependent.
President Aliyev expressed his skepticism towards Armenia’s suggestion, stating that he is unaware of any precedent for such an approach. He emphasized the need for all aspects of the peace treaty to be addressed simultaneously, rather than piecemeal. The President’s firm stance suggests that Azerbaijan is committed to a comprehensive resolution of the conflict with Armenia.
