PDP Emerges Victorious in all 17 Local Government Polls in Plateau State
The recent local government elections in Plateau State saw the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clinch victory in all 17 chairmanship seats. Conducted by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) on October 9, 2024, the elections featured 11 political parties vying for the positions.
Chairman of the commission, Daniel Plangji Cishak, announced the results in Jos, declaring PDP candidates like Stephen Gyang and Bernard Alkali as winners in various LGAs. Votes were scored with PDP dominating in most areas, such as Jos North where they garnered 97,002 votes against APC’s 8,497 votes.
The elected chairmen were swiftly sworn in by Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, following the announcement of results. With this sweeping victory, the PDP has reaffirmed its stronghold in the state and solidified its position as the leading political party.
PLASIEC issued certificates of return to the winners, marking the beginning of a new era of governance in Plateau State.
