While the focus remains on Israel’s actions in Gaza, a concerning trend of settler violence has emerged in the occupied West Bank. Data from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reveals an alarming average of four incidents per day, totaling 1,423 over the past year.
The Ramallah and el-Bireh governorate reported the highest number of attacks, with Nablus and Hebron following closely behind. The surge in violence can be attributed to the distribution of firearms among settlers by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, resulting in tension and conflict in the region.
Amid this turmoil, the Israeli government continues to expand settlements in the West Bank, further displacing Palestinians from their homes. The demolitions and seizures have left thousands without shelter, adding to the already devastating toll of 744 Palestinians killed and over 6,250 injured in the region.
