Welcome to LCOY 2024 in Amman!
The Local Conference of Youth on Climate Change (LCOY) 2024 has opened in Amman, bringing together youth leaders, policymakers, and international stakeholders to focus on climate solutions and empower Jordan’s youth in driving sustainable development. Organized by the Ministry of Youth in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, UNICEF, Generations For Peace, and Al-Hussein Technical University, this event amplifies youth voices in global climate discussions.
Her Royal Highness Princess Dana Firas led a workshop on the connection between cultural heritage and climate change, emphasizing the importance of inspiring youth to engage in climate solutions. Minister of Environment Muawieh Radaideh highlighted Jordan’s commitment to environmental challenges, while Minister of Youth Yazan Shdeifat underlined the importance of youth leadership in tackling climate impacts.
The conference features panel discussions, workshops, and the presentation of a youth-driven policy paper, aiming to bolster environmental awareness and engage policymakers. With 200 youth advocates participating, LCOY 2024 prepares young leaders to represent Jordan in global climate networks, including the upcoming COP29 in Azerbaijan.
