Russian forces have advanced to the outskirts of Toretsk, an eastern Ukrainian frontline city, following the capture of the strategic town of Vuhledar, as per Ukraine’s military report on Monday. The tension is high with continuous fighting at every entrance of the city, said Anastasiia Bobovnikova, the spokesperson for the Operational Tactical Group “Luhansk.”
Reports indicate that Russian troops have penetrated the eastern outskirts of Toretsk, with no immediate response from the Russian Defense Ministry. The advance towards the city center and the utilization of guided bombs demonstrate Russia’s military dominance, pressuring Ukraine to seek more support from Western allies.
President Zelenskyy has urged his military leaders to take all necessary actions to resist Moscow’s advancement along the frontline. For Ukraine, losing Toretsk would disrupt key logistical connections, while for Moscow, capturing the town would bring Putin closer to his aim of controlling the Donbas region.
