Israeli Airstrike Hits Hmeimeem Base and Lattakia Airport
An Israeli attack early Thursday morning targeted the Lattakia International Airport and the Russian Hmeimeem military base, resulting in a fire and the destruction of a weapons depot. This strike came after an Iranian plane landed, marking the first attack on Lattakia Airport since Israel began its air raids on Syria.
The Israeli raids, according to exclusive sources for Syria TV, focused on the Russian Hmeimeem base and other military sites along the Syrian coast. Despite the attack, the runways and towers at Hmeimeem Base and Lattakia Civil Airport were not harmed.
The Israeli missiles targeting the airport were intercepted by Russian and Syrian air defense systems, with two hitting the intended depot. The bombardment started at 3:55 AM and lasted until 4:41 AM. Following the attack, the Russian Air Force conducted aerial patrols along the Syrian coast.
