The United States reaffirmed on Tuesday its support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a “serious, credible, and realistic” solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara. The U.S. Department of State spokesperson described Morocco’s Autonomy Proposal as a credible and realistic approach in resolving the issue.
During a meeting between Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington, D.C., both countries expressed their backing for UN-led efforts to find a lasting political solution for the Sahara region without delay.
This reaffirmation of support from the United States is a significant development in the ongoing quest for a resolution to the Western Sahara conflict.
