Khawaja Saad Rafique Speaks Out Against ‘Power Politics’ in PML-N
In a recent ceremony to commemorate the death anniversary of ex-CM Ghulam Haider Wynne, senior PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique expressed his discontent with the direction of his party’s leadership. Rafique emphasized that democracy cannot be controlled remotely or sustained by billionaires, highlighting the need for genuine political workers over sycophants.
His sentiments echo those of other PML-N defectors, including Miftah Ismail and Mohammad Zubair, who have also criticized the focus on ‘power politics’ over accountability and democracy within the party. Rafique called for an end to the idol worship of political figures and urged youth to respect but not idolize leaders.
Rafique also raised concerns about the current state of democracy in Pakistan, pointing out the challenges in Balochistan and the rise of non-state actors in KP. He criticized the judiciary, warning that a democracy run by billionaires and millionaires cannot effectively deliver results.
Despite these challenges, Rafique remains hopeful for the future, calling for unity among political parties to prioritize the constitution and state institutions for the betterment of Pakistan.
