In Chennai, Tamil Nadu, workers from a Samsung plant were detained for protesting their demands, causing inconvenience to the public as they did not seek permission for the demonstration. Police officials stated that the workers were kept in four wedding halls during their detainment.
On September 16, 150 Samsung employees were also detained in Kancheepuram district after trying to present a memorandum on their ongoing strike. The workers have been protesting since September 9, demanding higher wages and union recognition.
The workers have boycotted work and set up a protest tent near the plant in Sunguvarchatram. Despite discussions between Samsung management, workers, and local officials, no resolution has been reached.
With over 1,700 employees at the Samsung plant in Tamil Nadu, more than 1,000 workers have participated in the strike. The situation remains tense as workers continue to demand their rights.
