Ram Bilas Sharma, a veteran BJP leader in Haryana, gracefully stepped aside from contesting in the upcoming assembly polls after being denied a ticket. Despite the setback, Sharma remains loyal to the party, stating that he holds no grudges and will continue to serve. Sharma’s dedication to the BJP spans over five decades, with a firm commitment to strengthen the party’s roots in Haryana.
Although Sharma was emotional when his supporters urged him to run as an Independent candidate, he reiterated his allegiance to the BJP. He is confident that the party will secure a third consecutive term in the state, dismissing reports of anti-incumbency.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini visited Sharma to mend fences and enlist his support in the campaign. Sharma, often referred to as the party’s “vat-vriksha,” played a significant role in the BJP’s growth in Haryana. While he was considered for the chief minister’s position in 2014, he currently serves as an education minister in the cabinet.
The BJP’s internal dynamics have sparked conversations about potential leadership changes, with various leaders eyeing the chief minister position. As Haryana gears up for the polls on October 5, all eyes are on the results declaration on October 8.
