The Election Commission team, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, is in Jharkhand to assess the readiness for the upcoming assembly polls. Scheduled to meet with political parties, enforcement agencies, and government officials during their two-day visit, the team aims to review election preparedness, law and order situation, and other election-related issues. In 2019, the assembly elections in Jharkhand were conducted in five phases, with results declared on December 23. This year, the polls are expected to be held in two to three phases, as per EC sources. With meetings planned with representatives of nine political parties and top government and police officials, the Election Commission’s visit signifies a significant step towards the smooth conduct of the assembly elections in Jharkhand, scheduled to take place later this year.
