Ukraine Begs West For Delivery Of Gripen And Eurofighter Jets
Ukraine is in talks with its Western allies to receive Gripen and Eurofighter fighter jets, according to Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. The negotiations are ongoing, and Ukraine hopes to add these two new types of aircraft to its arsenal soon. Previously, Western partners had promised to supply F-16s and Mirage-2000s to Ukraine.
“Consultations are underway for the Gripen and Eurofighter,” Umerov stated, suggesting that progress is being made in the discussions. The possibility of getting Gripen planes from Sweden was mentioned in 2022, but logistical challenges delayed the process.
While Ukraine currently operates multiple aircraft types, including F-16s, there are concerns about the complexity of managing such a diverse fleet. Russia has criticized NATO’s involvement in arming Ukraine, complicating the situation further.
