The National Assembly Secretariat has updated the list of actual party positions in the lower house, revealing that 80 PTI MNAs are now aligned with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) following the Supreme Court’s verdict on reserved seats. The SC’s decision declared PTI eligible for reserved seats, dealing a blow to the PML-N-led coalition government.
The list shows a total of 336 seats in the NA, with 313 lawmakers and 23 vacant or disputed seats to be allocated to PTI. The NA Speaker wrote to the ECP stating that the judgment on reserved seats cannot be implemented under the Amended Election Act, 2017. The ECP remains undecided on implementing the SC’s verdict.
