In a recent development, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has questioned the Cabinet’s involvement in advising him on pending prosecution sanction requests against Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy and other politicians. Gehlot demanded an explanation from the government on how they obtained access to confidential information regarding these cases.
The Cabinet’s resolution on August 22 raised concerns for Gehlot, as it lacked specific advice on the pending cases but included details of the submission dates by Lokayukta Police to the Secretariat. The Governor expressed curiosity about the source of this information and requested prompt clarification along with supporting documents.
This incident follows Gehlot’s approval of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s investigation in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority scam. The government highlighted the pending prosecution requests for Jolle, Kumaraswamy, Nirani, and Reddy, dating back to 2021 and 2023.
At a recent Cabinet meeting, it was decided not to respond to the Governor’s requests for reports, considering them unnecessary interference in their operations. The situation remains tense as Gehlot seeks transparency and accountability in the handling of these sensitive cases.
