US House Rejects Government Funding Plan
The US House of Representatives has rejected Speaker Mike Johnson’s plan to fund the government for six months. The bill, backed by Donald Trump, failed by a vote of 202-220. After the vote, Johnson expressed disappointment and vowed to come up with a new solution.
President Trump insisted on the inclusion of the SAVE Act in the funding bill, stating that Republicans should not agree to a Continuing Resolution without it. Senate lawmakers are working to avert a government shutdown on Oct. 1, emphasizing the need for a bipartisan agreement. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell warned that a shutdown would be politically harmful for Republicans.
In order to prevent a shutdown, leaders from both parties must work together and reach a compromise. The deadline is fast approaching, and there is no time to spare.
