Vice President Kamala Harris has been the presumptive Democratic nominee for president for 59 days without holding a formal press conference. Recently, under pressure to provide more transparency, Harris participated in various interviews, including a pre-taped session with CNN’s Dana Bash.
Meanwhile, former President Trump has been actively engaging with the media, holding news conferences and lengthy interviews. Harris sat for radio interviews last week and gave her first solo TV interview as the Democratic nominee in Philadelphia.
Despite calls for a formal press conference, Harris has avoided committing to one. Conservative Radio Libre host Jorge Bonilla believes she is being enabled by the media’s lack of accountability. In a recent interview, Harris faced criticism for her response about her economic policy, citing her middle-class roots.
While Trump emphasizes the contrast in media availability between him and Harris, the Vice President continues to avoid a traditional press conference format.
