Witness to Fatal Shooting in Nyanga Faces Arrest
A witness to the fatal shooting of British surgeon Kar Hao Teoh in Nyanga during a violent taxi strike last year is now facing arrest after failing to appear in the Cape Town magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
Sithembile April, 43, from East London, claimed to have been in the shooter’s car at the time of the incident and alleged that the killer was a prominent taxi industry boss. April also stated that he had been hired to assassinate another taxi boss.
Teoh, a respected trauma and orthopaedic doctor, was tragically killed on August 3 while on holiday with his family. He took a wrong turn into Nyanga, a township known for its high crime rates, and was fatally shot while accompanied by his wife Sara and two-year-old son Hugo.
