A visiting US delegation, the first since Bangladesh’s transitional government took office, has pledged to support the country’s renewed growth and economic opportunities. Led by Assistant Treasury Secretary Brent Neiman and Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu, the delegation met with transitional government head Muhammad Yunus and foreign affairs adviser Md Touhid Hossain.
The US Embassy affirmed its commitment to inclusive economic growth, institution building, and development in Bangladesh. They also expressed readiness to help expand economic opportunities, uphold human rights, and mitigate climate risks. The embassy emphasized support for Bangladesh’s path towards dynamism and growth through economic reforms and private sector engagement.
During their visit, the US delegation witnessed the signing of a $202 million grant between Bangladesh’s Finance Ministry and USAID to promote good governance, resilience, and economic opportunities. This collaboration aims to foster social and human development in the country.
