Former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, warned of Nigeria’s crisis, with 38 million people facing extreme hunger. He criticized the Bola Tinubu-led government for extravagant spending exacerbating the citizens’ plight.
Obi highlighted wasteful expenses such as a $100m presidential jet purchase and millions spent on vice president’s lodge renovation and National Assembly clinic construction. He emphasized the importance of responsible governance to tackle pressing issues like health, education, poverty, and security.
Voicing concern over 38 million Nigerians at risk of severe hunger, Obi called for investments in agriculture to combat hunger, unemployment, and inflation. He hinted at potential opposition party mergers to address hunger and insecurity before the 2027 elections.
