Chile Accuses Israel of Genocide in Gaza, Takes Legal Action
Chile has officially intervened in the case by South Africa at the International Court of Justice, accusing Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. The ICJ has invited South Africa and Israel to submit written observations in response to Chile’s declaration.
Chile’s intervention under Article 63 of the ICJ Statute asserts its interest in the construction of the Genocide Convention as it applies to the case. The country joins others like Nicaragua, Colombia, and Spain in seeking justice for Palestinians in Gaza.
Israel, facing international condemnation, has continued its brutal offensive on Gaza, resulting in over 41,000 Palestinian deaths. South Africa remains determined to provide evidence of genocide, pressing ahead with the case until a judgment is made. The Israeli aggression has led to mass displacement and a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
