Norway Lifts Defense Industry Restrictions on Türkiye
In a positive development for Türkiye, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide announced the decision to lift defense industry restrictions imposed on the country. This decision was conveyed to Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan during a phone call between the two officials.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesman Oncu Keceli confirmed the news, stating that Fidan expressed satisfaction with the decision during the call. He highlighted that the restrictions were not in line with the spirit of alliance between the two countries.
The restrictions were initially imposed by Norway, along with other countries, in 2019 in response to Türkiye’s anti-terror operation in northern Syria. However, this recent decision to lift the restrictions signifies a positive step towards strengthening bilateral relations between Norway and Türkiye.
This move is sure to enhance cooperation in the defense industry sector between the two countries, paving the way for increased collaboration and mutual benefit.
