SpaceX made history with the Polaris Dawn mission, as the crew reached an unprecedented apogee of 870 miles from Earth. This milestone hasn’t been achieved since the Apollo missions to the Moon over 50 years ago.
The Crew Dragon capsule, named Resilience, broke records and surpassed NASA’s Gemini 11 mission, which previously held the highest orbit record. The crew, including billionaire Jared Isaacman, Scott Poteet, Sarah Gillis, and Anna Menon, orbited Earth at an altitude never reached before by a manned spacecraft.
The mission will continue with exciting moments, like a spacewalk by Isaacman and Gillis, marking the first private spacewalk. Additionally, SpaceX introduced new spacesuits for the crew. These achievements highlight the ongoing advancements in space exploration and commercial missions.
