The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, has initiated a campaign to raise awareness about 10 government schemes targeting the youth, women, farmers, and elderly population ahead of the state assembly polls. The ‘Ladki Bahin Kutumb Bhet Abhiyaan’ launched by Shinde’s Shiv Sena party aims to reach over one crore families in Maharashtra.
This campaign comes amidst tensions within the ruling alliance regarding the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’. The Shiv Sena minister objected to the omission of Chief Minister Shinde’s name from promotional material of the flagship scheme by ally NCP and its president, Ajit Pawar.
The campaign will focus on evaluating the effectiveness of government schemes and addressing any challenges faced by families in availing them. Shinde emphasized the importance of empowering women to boost the state’s economy. The progress of the campaign will be monitored through a geo-tracking application.
State Excise Minister Shambhuraj Desai expressed disappointment over Deputy CM Ajit Pawar for not fully using the name of the scheme during public outreach, stating it went against protocol. The campaign aims to inform and assist families in benefiting from the government schemes.
