UN Chief Calls for Ceasefire in Gaza
Recent airstrikes by the Israeli army in Khan Yunis, Gaza, led to the death of 71 people as confirmed by the civil defense agency. The strike targeted a Hamas command center, causing mass casualties and destruction in the area.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, denouncing the unprecedented levels of death and destruction in the region. The ongoing conflict has claimed the lives of over 40,900 Palestinians and displaced 90% of Gaza’s population.
While Israel and Hamas continue to be at odds, the international community is pushing for peace negotiations and humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering in Gaza.
