The Special Operations Forces (SSO) of Ukraine recently reported the successful destruction of a Russian 152mm Msta-S self-propelled artillery mount using FPV drones. The soldiers identified the Russian artillery system moving into position and made the decision to destroy it immediately. With the help of FPV drones, the target was successfully struck, resulting in the Russian artillery system burning to the ground.
The Msta-S is a powerful self-propelled artillery system designed to destroy enemy personnel, equipment, and fortifications. The 2S19 model, mounted on a modified T-72 tank chassis, can carry various types of ammunition with a firing range of up to 29 km.
This incident is not the first time Ukrainian forces have used drones to target Russian artillery units. In July, another Russian 152mm Msta-S self-propelled artillery unit was destroyed by Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance officers using a drone, causing its ammunition to detonate.
The use of technology and strategic planning showcases the capabilities and determination of the Ukrainian forces in defending their country against Russian aggression.
