Man Sentenced to 8 Years for Attempted Murder in Irbid
The Court of Cassation has upheld a Criminal Court ruling, sentencing a man to eight years in prison for attempting to murder a man in Irbid in 2019. The defendant was originally handed a 12-year prison term, but it was reduced to eight years after the victim dropped charges.
According to court papers, the victim was stabbed three times in the back by the defendant during a fight in the street. The victim survived the attack due to medical intervention.
The defendant challenged the ruling, claiming errors in the investigation procedures and contradictory witness statements. However, the Cassation Court agreed with the lower court’s decision, stating that the evidence presented, including DNA evidence, supported the charges.
Ultimately, the Cassation Court judges upheld the eight-year sentence, affirming that justice was served in this case.
This verdict serves as a reminder of the justice system’s commitment to holding individuals accountable for their actions and ensuring that victims receive the justice they deserve.
