Deputy Prime Minister Dar Discusses Strategic Partnership with UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs
During an official visit to the UK, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with David Lammy, the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom. They emphasized the importance of a strong Pakistan-UK partnership, advancing bilateral agendas, and promoting regional peace and stability.
Dar applauded the efforts of British-Pakistanis in enhancing relations between the two countries and expressed interest in collaborating on shared concerns such as climate action, youth opportunities, and trade and investment. The ministers discussed various bilateral issues and congratulated Pakistan on its election to the UN Security Council.
The visit included meetings with top British officials and engagement with the Pakistani expat community. Dar will also meet his counterpart, UK Deputy PM Angela Rayner, and continue discussions with Secretary of State Lammy. The trip culminates in preparation for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in October 2024.
