Commuters in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are facing hardships due to the recent hike in petrol prices. The pump price of petrol has been increased from N568 – N617 per litre to N855 – N897 per litre, leading to long queues at filling stations.
Miss Amina Yusuf and Mr. Kingsley Okoye shared their experiences of the increased fares for transportation, causing a strain on their finances. Amina had to beg for money to cover the increased fare, while Kingsley had to withdraw more cash to avoid being stranded at work.
Mrs. Jennifer Fabian expressed her concern about the ripple effect of the petrol price increase on the economy, affecting the cost of food and other essential items. Commercial drivers justified the fare hikes, citing the need to cover their costs as filling stations raise their prices.
Overall, commuters and drivers are calling for government intervention to address the rising pump prices and alleviate the burden on the masses.
