The Cabinet may approve the publication of a report on sexual abuse in boarding and day schools today, along with proposals for a statutory inquiry. Minister for Education Norma Foley will present these recommendations, following a report on historic abuse at Blackrock College.
The scoping inquiry, conducted by senior counsel Mary O’Toole, investigated abuse allegations at various religious-run schools. Taoiseach Simon Harris, Tánaiste Micheál Martin, and Roderic O’Gorman discussed this issue at their recent meeting.
