Tragic floods have plagued Bangladesh for weeks, resulting in a devastating toll of at least 59 lives lost in August. The National Disaster Response Coordination Center (NDRCC) reported that the deceased include 41 men, six women, and 12 children, with the most severe flooding occurring in the Greater Noakhali region.
The districts of Noakhali, Cumilla, and Feni have seen the most fatalities, with millions more affected across 11 districts. While some areas are seeing improvement, nearly 700,000 people remain stranded in the southeast.
Authorities are mobilizing rescue efforts, healthcare services, and relief distribution to support the affected population under the urgent plea of Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the interim government. Let’s continue to extend our hands to those in need and stand together in this time of crisis.
