A man was fatally shot by two gunmen on motorcycles in the New Town area on the outskirts of Kolkata, according to police reports.
The incident took place on Saturday night while the man was at a tea stall near Ram Mandir. The assailants arrived and fired at him, leading to his death upon arrival at Bidhannagar Subdivisional Hospital.
An individual has been arrested in connection with the murder, believed to be motivated by a business dispute. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed, although locals suggest he was engaged in coal and brick trading.
Following the tragedy, West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar criticized the state’s law and order situation, likening it to “mini Pakistan.”
