The Telegram Boss Accused of Violence Against His Son
Reports have emerged accusing Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov of committing “serious acts of violence” against his six-year-old son, sparking an investigation by French authorities. Durov, a 39-year-old Russian with multiple citizenships, appeared in a Paris court facing various criminal offenses, including facilitating crime through his app and aiding in the distribution of child pornography.
Additionally, Durov is under scrutiny for alleged violence against his son, who currently resides in Switzerland with his mother. The investigation may be linked to a previous criminal complaint filed by the mother, Irina Bolgar, against Durov in Switzerland. These incidents occurred after Durov reportedly stopped paying a substantial amount in child support per month.
Despite the accusations, Telegram has defended its platform, stating that they comply with all local laws. Anti-censorship activists view Durov’s arrest as an attack on free speech, with notable figures like Edward Snowden, Elon Musk, and Tucker Carlson voicing their support for Durov.
The case continues to unfold, with global attention on the outcome of the investigations and legal proceedings.
