Syria’s representative to the UN, Dr. al-Hakam Dandi, recently addressed the Security Council regarding the dangerous escalation in the region caused by Israel’s continued occupation and aggression towards the Palestinian people and other countries, including Syria. Dandi emphasized the need to end the Israeli occupation and highlighted Syria’s commitment to regaining the occupied Golan Heights.
Furthermore, Dandi discussed Syria’s efforts to improve the humanitarian situation within the country, including the establishment of the National Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities. Despite facing challenges such as politicization of humanitarian work by Western countries, Syria remains focused on providing support and facilities for humanitarian and development partners.
In addition, Syria reiterated its commitment to a political process led independently without foreign interference and emphasized the need for the US forces to withdraw from the country. Dandi urged for the success of the upcoming Constitutional Discussion Committee meeting in Baghdad to progress towards a political solution in Syria.
