Federal Democratic Party in South Sudan hit by ownership wrangles
The Federal Democratic Party (FDP) under the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) is facing ownership disputes between two factions led by Gen Gathoth Gatkuoth Hothnyang and Gabriel Changson Chang.
During a recent press conference in Juba, Changkuoth Bichiock Reth, the Secretary General of Changson’s faction, dismissed Hothnyang’s claims as fraudulent due to his dismissal in 2016 after defection.
Reth emphasized that Hothnyang’s alleged leadership position in the party is not supported by the party’s official records.
The FDP was established in 2015 in Nairobi and participated in the 2017 IGAD High-level Revitalized Forum for the peace agreement negotiations, led by Changson. Hothnyang’s faction was not recognized as part of these negotiations.
Radio Tamazuj’s attempts to reach out to Gatkuoth for clarification were unsuccessful.
