Karnataka’s Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao, spoke exclusively to News18 about the steps the state government is taking to address these concerns.
In response to the Kolkata incident, Karnataka has established a special task force to improve infrastructure and implement safety measures for medical professionals. The government is considering developing apps, panic buttons, and secure resting rooms to ensure the safety of healthcare workers. Amendments to laws to enhance doctor safety are also in progress.
Regarding political turmoil in West Bengal, Rao emphasized the need for sensitivity in handling such issues and criticized the politicization of the situation. He also dismissed speculations about Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stepping down, asserting the strength and unity of the Congress party. Rao expressed confidence in Siddaramaiah’s leadership and moral conduct amidst ongoing challenges.
