White House: Russia ‘will not prevail’ as US announces $125m aid package for Ukraine
The United States has pledged $125 million in military assistance to Ukraine after a call between Presidents Zelenskyy and Biden. The aid includes air defense munitions and anti-armour missiles, aiming to support Ukrainian forces in their conflict against Russia.
Biden reassured Ukraine of US support, stating, “Russia will not prevail in this conflict. The independent people of Ukraine will prevail.” This aid package joins the tens of billions of dollars’ worth of assistance provided to Ukraine since the Russian invasion in February 2022.
Ukrainian forces have faced challenges in expelling Russian troops, leading to a prolonged conflict. President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the weapons supply, emphasizing the need for air defense systems to protect crucial areas.
As Ukrainian forces engage in battles inside Russian territory, the US government has imposed new economic sanctions on Russia. Despite concerns about escalation, the US stands by providing weapons to Ukraine to defend against the invasion.
