The Lagos State Taskforce recently conducted a cleanup exercise along the Mile 2 Oke on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, resulting in the removal of illegal shanties, roadside vendors, and confiscation of 2000 litres of petroleum products. This initiative, aimed at addressing the challenges posed by roadside vendors and shanties in the area, was part of the Agency’s effort to improve the environment and ensure safety for motorists and commuters.
According to the Agency’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Abdulraheem Gbadeyanka, the illegal activities along Mile 2 Oke have led to severe traffic congestion, increased robberies, and environmental degradation. The swift action taken by the Chairman of the Agency, Adetayo Akerele, highlights the commitment to maintaining order and preserving the environment in line with the state government’s agenda.
The cleanup operation also targeted the sale of petroleum products by roadside vendors, emphasizing the danger of fire hazards and explosions. The arrested suspects will be charged, and the seized items will be confiscated to ensure the safety of the community.
