In a rare show of unity, fans of Kolkata’s ‘Big Three’ football clubs – Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, and Mohammedan Sporting – set aside their rivalry and came together to protest against the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital amid heavy rain. India defender and Mohun Bagan captain Subhasish Bose, along with AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey, joined the protest march demanding justice for the victim.
Bose emphasized the importance of ensuring such incidents are never repeated, calling for proper punishment for the culprits. Fans gathered outside the Saltlake Stadium, despite the cancellation of a scheduled match, to fight for justice. The unprecedented solidarity among supporters of rival clubs highlighted the gravity of the situation.
AIFF chief Chaubey criticized the state administration for failing to maintain law and order, emphasizing that football transcends politics and that matches should not be canceled. The fans’ unwavering support and unified stance underscored their commitment to fighting for justice.
