The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Amman has made significant strides in reducing Jordan’s carbon footprint through innovative projects. These efforts, taking place between 2015 and 2023, align with the country’s environmental commitments under the Paris Agreement, aiming for a 31% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030.
The ministry’s initiatives are focused on maintaining economic and social benefits for Jordanians while progressing towards a green economy. These efforts have already yielded positive outcomes, with renewable energy expected to contribute 31% to Jordan’s electricity mix by 2030, significantly reducing carbon emissions in the process.
Through various projects and programs, the ministry has already achieved a notable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, with significant contributions from sectors like residential, small and medium enterprises, government buildings, and agriculture. Their strategy also includes plans for enhancing energy efficiency, promoting electric vehicles, and developing a comprehensive green economy plan for the energy sector.
With a clear focus on sustainability and commitment to combatting climate change, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is leading the way towards a greener, low-carbon future for Jordan.
