The recent reinstatement of Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has brought to light his allegations against Governor Godwin Obaseki. Shaibu claimed that Obaseki threatened him and withheld his salary and allowances for 15 months upon expressing his intention to contest the governorship seat.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Shaibu revealed the challenges he faced after declaring his ambitions and how Obaseki allegedly began to oppress and intimidate him. Despite this, Shaibu emphasized his constitutional right to run for governor without the need to resign from his current position.
Shaibu also highlighted the role he played in Obaseki’s political journey, stating that they supported Obaseki financially and politically to secure his position as governor. He emphasized that he, along with other supporters, were instrumental in making Obaseki Governor, and not the other way around.
