Israeli Army Issues New Evacuation Orders in Gaza
By Palestine Chronicle Staff
Today’s evacuation orders come a few days after the United Nations (UN) announced that 84 percent of the population in Gaza is under evacuation orders by the Israeli army.
The Israeli army issued new evacuation orders on Friday to Palestinians in various areas previously classified as “humanitarian safe zones” in central and southern Gaza. The orders were sent via text messages and flyers dropped in different neighborhoods.
The Israeli army claims these areas were used by Hamas for military purposes, though Hamas denies operating from civilian facilities. The repeated evacuation orders have caused panic and confusion among the Palestinian population in Gaza.
International organizations like the United Nations have condemned the evacuation orders, calling them a violation of international humanitarian law. Amnesty International has labeled them as a war crime.
The conflict in Gaza has resulted in a humanitarian crisis, with thousands of casualties and a severe shortage of essential supplies. The ongoing violence has forced mass displacement, creating one of the largest exoduses since the 1948 Nakba.
