Palestinian President Abbas Plans Visit to Gaza and Jerusalem
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas announced his decision to visit Gaza and Jerusalem in protest of Israel’s war on Gaza during a speech at Turkey’s parliament. Abbas, who met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara to discuss ceasefire efforts, addressed Turkey’s parliament, condemning the US for supporting Israel and vetoing UN resolutions. He called for legal action against Israel for war crimes and violations of international law.
Abbas expressed his determination to stand with his people in Gaza, vowing to halt the aggression, even at the risk of his own life. He received overwhelming support and applause from the audience, including Erdogan. Turkey, denouncing the war, ceased trade with Israel and sought to join a case at the International Court of Justice against Israel for genocide.
Erdogan, a strong advocate for Hamas, also mentioned plans to invite Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh. The visit aims to show solidarity with Palestinians and push for peace in the region.
