The Moroccan Ministry of Finance has joined the trend of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into its operations to enhance budgetary decision-making. Minister of Budget, Fouzi Lakjaa, revealed that AI is being utilized in various departments of the Ministry, such as customs and taxation, to analyze data, predict fraud, assist taxpayers, and streamline processes.
Customs operations are benefiting from AI by analyzing data to predict potential fraud in declarations and improving cargo inspections with image analysis technology. Taxation is seeing improvements with AI-powered chatbots for fraud detection and tax filing processes. Additionally, an AI-powered geographic system is being developed to manage state-owned land and assets more efficiently.
The Ministry is also using AI in its e-budget system through a chatbot to enhance budgetary management and increase employee collaboration and productivity. With AI, the Ministry aims to analyze budgetary data effectively and make better decisions for the future.
